Choosing Your Photographer

more

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding.
I would like to talk about some pitfalls to avoid in choosing your wedding photographer

1)Don't make the mistake of having a friend or relative photograph your wedding. You only get one shot at this. Would you buy a used car from a friend, or have them paint your house, or renovate your kitchen?
Why not?
The old saying goes something like this, You get what you pay for, if you pay nothing, unfortunately that might be what you end up with.
Wedding photography is a highly specialized genre that very few can do well. Use a professional or face the horrible consequences of bad photos that document you most special day.

2)Make sure you connect with your wedding photographer. The day of your wedding you will spend the most time with your photographer than any other vendor.
If you connect with the photographer this can be a great professional relationship, if not, do you really want to be stressed out during the happiest day of your life.

3)Is price really the most important factor? Why would a successful artistic photographer be the lowest priced? What it probably means is that they are just starting out and/or they really are not that great. I'm believing that you probably want a great and talented photographer to capture your wedding. It will probably cost more than you like but shouldn't cost your future. Somewhere in between, should be enough.

4)Bait and switch. Did you ask if the wedding photography examples are the photographer that will be documenting your wedding? Get that in the contract so you don't end up being someones' first wedding.
